Automatic production of journal websites from articles on Stylo
This project aims to establish a system for creating customized websites for journals that use the Stylo text editor. Journals can edit their articles by entering all the necessary metadata into Stylo, and then generate a static HTML website simply using Stylo’s export functionality.
Issues
Each journal has its own unique identity, specific needs and a strong attachment to particular forms of publication. The standardisation required for platform distribution is often frustrating. At the same time, it is a challenge for journals to find the economic resources and technical expertise to create a customised website. Our project aims to address this issue by combining a robust and accurate content structure with the ability to maintain a distinct editorial identity.
Technical challenges
The project is based on the existence of a Stylo API. This will provide an opportunity to improve the API by enriching it and aligning it with the theoretical, epistemological, and editorial needs of journals. Additionally, the project will involve developing the notion of a "corpus of articles"—partially present in Stylo—by examining the meaning of this concept. How should articles be grouped? On what principles? With what description needs (corpus metadata, etc.)?
Research activities
- The first step will be to work with the journals involved to identify their needs.
- Then, we will formalise a model.
- This model will then be implemented in a prototype export.
- Finally, we will produce the final module, which will be tested and given feedback by the partners.
Deliverables
The deliverable will be the export module for customizable websites.
